This session will help participants…

  1. learn about the overlap between the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act and IDEA;
  2. apply IDEA, Section 504, and McKinney-Vento to their school psychology practice within their own school contexts; and
  3. collectively reflect on their experiences with students with disabilities experiencing housing insecurity.

Description

School psychologists’ multifaceted roles provide an important opportunity to support children with disabilities who experience housing instability. Participants will explore the legal and practical implications on services for this population.
