This session will help participants…
- analyze the relationship between perceptions surrounding seclusion and restraint and school professional experience level and formal training in seclusion and restraint;
- understand the disproportionate use of seclusion and restraint amongst students with disabilities and students of color; and
- support mandatory annual training for all school professionals by accredited crisis intervention programs in the proper use of restraint and seclusion procedures.
Description
Exploring the perceptions of school professionals surrounding the use of seclusion and restraint in a K–12 setting is crucial in understanding and identifying key factors that influence frequency of use.
