Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. explore previous research of mindfulness-based interventions in preventing and alleviating symptoms of mental illnesses while promoting overall well-being;
  2. analyze the distinct characteristics of social–emotional learning (SEL) and yoga interventions, and understand how their integration can synergistically enhance mental health among adolescents; and
  3. recognize the importance of conducting formative evaluations and pilot studies to gather valuable data before embarking on impact evaluations in the field of mindfulness-based interventions.

Description

Learn about the benefits of combining yoga practices and social–emotional learning (SEL) curriculum in the school-based setting. Pilot data demonstrate high acceptability and feasibility of this novel approach.
