Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. advance understanding of the prevalence of bullying behavior among children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder;
  2. increase understanding about the level of agreement between parent-, self-, and teacher-reported rates of bully participant behaviors for youth with autism;
  3. increase the understanding about whether social–emotional learning tools can be utilized to identify students with autism at risk for involvement in bullying situations; and
  4. consider how this knowledge can be applied in school interventions to address bullying.

Description

This study examines the agreement between adult- and self-reported engagement in bullying behaviors and whether social–emotional screeners can help identify students with autism who engage in bullying behaviors.
