Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. implement SSIs, specifically for students displaying externalizing behaviors (NASP Practice Model Domains 4, 5, 6, and 9);
  2. analyze the robustness of SSI with elementary and preschool students who exhibit externalizing behaviors (NASP Practice Model Domains 1, 4, and 9);
  3. describe how social skills interventions and programming fit into the comprehensive role of a school psychologist as outlined in the NASP Practice Model Domains 2, 4, 5, and 10; and
  4. use data-based decision-making skills to determine SSI’s effectiveness as a preventive measure before special education services.

Description

Before special education, how can we support students identified as emotionally disturbed? Learn how social skills interventions assist in the prevention of pervasive externalizing behaviors in early childhood.
