This session will help participants…

  1. learn the concept of parental psychological control;
  2. understand the associations between parental psychological control and symptoms of anxiety and depression in adolescents;
  3. understand how peer social support moderates the association of parental psychological control and adolescent anxiety and depression symptoms; and
  4. utilize research findings to support and improve mental health outcomes for adolescents in educational settings using peer social support strategies.

Description

The goal is to help school psychologists and educators understand the concept of parental psychological control and its associations with peer social support and adolescents’ symptoms of depression and anxiety.
