This session will help participants…
- identify myths and misconceptions associated with the importance of teacher social and emotional learning and particular challenges that EBD teachers face;
- understand existing models of teacher well-being and learn a new empirically supported framework to reconceptualize teacher well-being; and
- explore the newly developed model of teacher well-being characterized by three core components (Connection, Control, and Capacity) and recommendations for self-preservation and system change within each component of well-being.
Description
Teacher well-being is invaluable to school success. A newly proposed model calls for both teacher self-preservation and systems change according to three primary domains of well-being: connection, control, and capacity.
