Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. learn rural-specific implementation strategies to support the mental and behavioral health needs of youth living in isolated areas;
  2. acquire knowledge of actionable steps one can take as a school psychologist to support youth mental and behavioral health in rural communities;
  3. increase their awareness and understanding of the experiences and perspectives of individuals providing and accessing youth mental and behavioral health services in rural communities today; and
  4. gain a strong understanding of the advantages of a multistakeholder participatory research design and the role this plays in developing and implementing a home–school–community framework to support youth mental and behavioral health.

Bridge the gap between research and action through our discussion of rural youth mental and behavioral health. Explore barriers, facilitators, and rural-specific implementation strategies that influence youth’s access to services.
