Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. examine areas in their practice that may require further professional development;
  2. learn current reading-related practices of school psychologists who completed the survey;
  3. become aware of changes and trends in school psychologists’ reading knowledge base and practice since the Nelson and Machek (2007) study; and
  4. consider their own knowledge base related to reading and reading disabilities and how it affects their practice.

Description

This presentation will examine school psychologists’ reading knowledge, practice, and competence levels over the past 15 years, identifying whether further training is needed for graduate training programs and districts.
