  1. explain the role of status offenses and summary citations in the school-to-prison pipeline;
  2. assess the harmful effects of early criminalizing of typical adolescent behaviors for Black and Brown students; and
  3. analyze a case summary illustrating the collateral consequences from summary citations and the accompanying fees and fines.

Description

Many students find themselves in contact with the justice system due to summary citations for minor offenses. Attendees learn about collateral consequence from summary citations and accompanying fees and fines.
