Learner Objectives
This session will help participants…
- describe the prevalence of microaggressions experienced by GSD students in health service psychology (HSP) graduate programs;
- understand the relationship between experiences of microaggressions and depression, stress, and psychological well-being among GSD trainees in HSP graduate programs;
- recognize and understand differences among trainees’ experiences of microaggressions by program type (i.e., clinical, school) and various sexual and gender identities (e.g., cisgender versus trans students); and
- effectively implement the NASP Practice Model in graduate training programs and clinical training sites.
Description
Findings from a study examining microaggressions experienced by gender/sexually diverse (GSD) graduate students will be presented. Attendees will learn about the relationship between microaggressions and psychological well-being for GSD trainees.
