This session will help participants…

  1. learn about the prevalence rates of autism and why social skills interventions are important;
  2. learn how to develop social skills interventions that are inclusive of autistic and neurotypical students with a brief review of some established, evidence-based interventions; and
  3. learn how to best incorporate elements of social justice and cultural relevance in implementing social skills interventions for autistic high school students and their neurotypical peers.

Description

This documented session will discuss, in lecture format, how school psychologists can develop and implement a social skills intervention inclusive of autistic high school students and their neurotypical peers. This session is sponsored by the Convention Committee.
