This session will help participants…

  1. build a high-quality BTAM program using best practice strategies to build a legally defensible process;
  2. understand how conduct a threat assessment using strategies that increase equity while decreasing bias and disproportionality; and
  3. understand the clear distinction between threat assessment and special education policies and procedures while understanding the complementary aspects.

Description

This workshop will share experiences with countering bias, equity, and disproportionality; the relationship of behavioral threat assessment and management to special education procedures; lessons learned from court cases and service as an expert witness; and engagement in multiple state-wide BTAM implementation projects.
