Learner Objectives
This session will help participants…
- understand alternative calculations of responsiveness to intervention metrics derived from ordinary least squares regression.
- learn how to calculate Theil-Sen and the repeated median regression slopes from progress monitoring data.
- appraise the extent to which Theil-Sen and the repeated median regression are viable alternatives to ordinary least squares regression.
Description
Ordinary-least squares (OLS) assumes the absence of outliers and normality of residuals. Two alternatives to computing slope are compared given progress monitoring data often violate these assumptions.
