  • PMD: 1,5
  • Grade Level(s): B,C,D
  • Skill Level: Intermediate

Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. explain the problem-solving framework applied to proactive behavior support systems
  2. apply this learning to describe multiple roles that school psychologists can play in a district-wide effort to implement all three tiers of SW-PBIS
  3. increase the effectiveness and efficiency of team-based problem solving by adapting and using example tools (e.g., meeting templates, self-assessment of implementation, forms to guide functional behavior assessment and behavior support planning, problem solving matrices, fidelity checklist for individual and systems implementation features) to support students’ social behavior outcomes across multi-tiered systems of support

Description

School psychologists play a critical role in promoting student social behavior outcomes but are often called too late in the problem-solving process. This session will explore examples of systems, structures, and data that practitioners can use across increasingly intensive behavior interventions. Ways school psychologists can proactively support students will be emphasized. Participants will receive tools and skills for increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of teaming and problem solving to promote students’ social behavior outcomes across multitiered systems.
