Abstract
This pilot research study aimed to investigate the relationship between growth mindset and stress appraisal with psychological well-being, resilience and academic performance. In addition, students’ perceptions of what attributes contribute to having a growth vs. fixed mindset were examined. Preliminary data was collected from 40 graduate students recruited from post-secondary institutions across Canada. The importance of understanding graduate students’ mindsets and how they relate to positive outcomes can contribute to a greater understanding for experienced practitioners, educators and researchers in guiding their future practice. Further research will be conducted with a greater sample size.
