  • PMD: 3
  • Skill Level: Introduction
  • Session 5: Promoting Academic Success

Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. develop greater knowledge for assisting students with sight word recognition.
  2. learn how to implement the “Model, Lead, and Test” intervention.
  3. better understand how to teach individuals with loss of language skills.

Teaching individuals with disabilities basic literacy skills, like sight word recognition, is imperative. Therefore, this poster will discuss the use of “Model, Lead, and Test” to improve the sight word recognition skills of an individual with deficits in language comprehension and verbal expression. Results from the study indicate promising findings. Limitations and implications for future research will also be included.
