Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. learn about a new approach to delivering SEL in the classroom for all students.
  2. learn the outcomes of an evaluation of an SEL program delivered as part of a language arts curriculum.
  3. discuss strategies for effectively scaling up school-wide SEL implementation in their district.

Description

This presentation will share the results of a quasiexperimental design study examining the impact of the Social-Emotional Learning Language Arts (SELLA) program in fourth grade classrooms. SELLA is a unique approach to school-wide SEL through integration with academic content delivery. Session attendees will have an opportunity to learn about the program, along with the results of this initial quantitative outcome evaluation. Strategies for effectively scaling up school-wide SEL implementation will be discussed.
